Sie gibt mir Mut und Stärke, wenn diese mir fehlen. Sie schirmt all die Sorgen von mir ab, die mich quälen. Sie füllt die Leere in mir mit Liebe und Kraft, schafft es in düstersten Zeiten, dass mein Herz wieder lacht.

Sie liebte mich bereits bevor sie mich kannte. Sie verzeiht mir all meine Fehler, meine Ecken und Kanten. Sie ist so herzlich, innig und warm, trägt bedingungslose Liebe in sich, hat Witz und Charme.

Sie schenkte mir das Leben und brachte mich an diesen Ort. Sie ist der Ursprung meines Daseins, ihr Name war mein erstes Wort. Sie hatte immer die Antwort auf all meine Fragen ehe ich sie stellte, sie ist stets das Licht in der Dunkelheit und die Wärme in der Kälte.

Wenn ich mich einmal verliere, findet sie mich wieder. Wenn ich einmal Kummer habe, summt sie heitere Lieder. Sie vereint all die schönen Gefühle, die ich in mir trage, sie fühlt, was ich fühle, ohne dass ich etwas sage.

Sie hat den schönsten Namen, der je gesprochen und das duftendste Parfüm, das ich jemals gerochen. Sie wird immer da sein, auch wenn sie es nicht ist. Der Mensch ist vergänglich, doch unser Band ist es bestimmt nicht.

Es ist sie, die mein Leben reicher und bunter macht. Es ist sie, die selbst das Unmögliche möglich macht. Sie ist die Kriegerin, die jeden Kampf als Heldin gewinnt. Sie wird immer meine Mutter sein und so auch ich ihr Kind!

Diese Worte sind meiner großartigen, liebevollen Mama gewidmet. Danke für Alles! Gemeinsam sind wir stark! Ich liebe dich!

Ach, schön. Weihnachtszeit ist ja auch Familienzeit, und wir wünschen allen, dass sie auch so eine innige Beziehung zu ihrer M.A.M.A. haben. 💑

Cinematographer Oliver Curtis visited Cairo for a freelance assignment and like any good tourist, he visited the Great Pyramid of Giza. He was duly impressed, too—not by their immense size or majestic tombs, but by what he saw when he turned around: smoggy suburbs, a brilliant green golf course, and the trash of countless visitors.
That incongruity inspired Volte-Face, which reveals the ugly, the boring, and the downright funny stuff just beyond 45 landmarks from the Taj Mahal to the Hollywood sign.

Look closely at Zhang Wei’s portrait of Michael Jackson and you’ll see something isn’t quite right. The eyes are wrong, the lips are a bit thin, the hair too straight. But it isn’t the King of Pop you’re seeing. It’s a clever composite of photos of his Chinese fans.
The image is among the 72 portraits in Artificial Theater, Wei’s sharp commentary on the influence of Western pop culture on China. Wei assembles each collage using the facial features of 20 to 30 ordinary Chinese citizens.
Wei, who lives in Beijing, has pondered China’s changing cultural identity for awhile. Today you can hear Taylor Swift and Katy Perry songs blaring out of every Starbucks, and see American films in every theater.
